City of Stars uses a beautiful mosaic star stitch to create clusters of color between rows of garter stitch.
This beautiful shawl is knit with fingering weight using two skeins of main color paired with ten mini skeins. It can be knit with more than ten contrast colors, or as few as one; it can be knit in a gentle gradient like mine, or crazy stripes, or anything in between.
The shawl starts at one corner point, increases are worked until the widest part, then decreases are worked back to the final point.
The shawl looks just as good on the front side as on the reverse side!

Size: 70x50x39” / 178x127x99cm, or larger as desired.
Needles: US 5 / 3.75mm or size to obtain gauge; circular, at least 30” / 75cm.
Gauge: 28 sts and 38 rows = 4”/ 10cm in Star stitch pattern.
Gauge is not crucial but differences will affect yardage and finished dimensions.
Yarn: fingering weight in at least two colors:
MC: 660* yards / 606* meters; and
CCs: any number of colors totaling 750* yards / 688* meters (* or more if desired)
Notions: tapestry needle.
