Fair Winds and Following Seas is knit top-down, flat, in one piece, with no seaming or picking up stitches (other than a few at each underarm). It has contiguous shoulders for a perfect fit, and then the sweater becomes very flowy and drapey. Malabrigo Yarn’s Silkpaca is lightweight and airy, a perfect combination for the transition from warm days to cool evenings.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL) 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL.

Finished Measurements: To fit bust: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44) 48, 52, 56, 60”/ 71 (81, 91.5, 101.5, 111.5) 122, 132, 142, 152)cm.
Intended to be worn open and drapey; size based on finished back measurement x 2. See last two pictures for schematic, and see below for additional measurements.

Gauge: 24 stitches and 36 rows = 4”/ 10cm in stockinette stitch.

Needles: US size 5/3.75 mm or size to obtain gauge - 24”/60cm circular (or longer) and DPNs or short circulars for sleeves.

Yarn: laceweight: 1500 (1680, 1830, 1965, 2180) 2370, 2590, 2785, 2955 yards/ 1371 (1536, 1675, 1800, 1995) 2166, 2370, 2545, 2705 meters MC; and 365 (400, 425, 450, 490) 520, 555, 590, 630] yards/ 335 (365, 390, 410, 450) 475, 510, 540, 576 meters CC.

Notions: Stitch markers, locking markers (optional), scrap yarn or spare needle cords, tapestry needle to weave in ends.
