Flurry Christmas Stocking
“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there…”
This stocking is knit as a cuff-down sock with an afterthought heel and rounded toe, but you don’t need to be a “sock knitter” to knit it. An easy all-over snowflake Fair Isle pattern makes it a classic and timeless knitting pattern.
Size: 15” / 38cm circumference x 11.5” / 29cm “leg” height.
Needles: US 7 / 4.5mm or size to obtain gauge, in 16” / 40cm circular needles and DPNs.
Gauge: 16 sts and 18 rnds = 4” / 10cm over Snowflake pattern.
Because this is not a fitted garment, gauge is not critical, but will affect the overall size, drape, and yardage requirements.
Yarn: worsted weight:
MC: 200 yards / 184 meters; and
CC: 90 yards / 83 meters.
Notions: 4 stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn, crochet hook (size F, G, or H).
