Soul Vacation
Soul Vacation is a triangular cowl designed to work with Slub and Mohair yarns. It features sections of mosaic knitting, which utilizes slipped stitches to create colorwork designs, alternating with sections of simple stockinette stitch. The cast-on starts at the front center and the cowl is initially worked flat before joining to work in the round.
Use a monochromatic palette like I did, or be adventurous with bold contrasts. Emma’s Yarn Mo’ Slub is the perfect yarn combination.
Size: 28”/70cm circumference x 22”/55cm depth.
Needles: US 5/ 3.75mm, or size to obtain gauge, in long circulars.
Gauge: 20 sts and 32 rows = 4”/ 10cm over stockinette stitch in Slub, blocked and dried. Differences in gauge will affect drape and yardage requirements.
Yarn:
fingering weight Slub: 265 yards / 241 meters; and
laceweight Mohair: 185 yards / 170 meters.
Notions: 3 stitch markers, tapestry needle.
Sample knit in: Emma’s Yarn Mo’ Slub bundle in Razzle Dazzle: Slubby Slub (90% superwash Merino, 10% nylon; 438 yards / 100g), and Marvelous Mohair (72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk; 459 yards / 50g) in Razzle Dazzle.
